SS085 RF Cables Meet HSD Requirements

Test cables are an essential part of a test lab for measuring standard RF devices or High-Speed Digital (HSD) systems. Bulky test cables, though, will not meet every test system requirement, especially when testing RF boards with small connectors. The solution is to use small test jumpers to connect to a DUT (device under test) when a large cable puts a strain on a PCB connector or the connector density does not permit the use of large cables.
P1dB builds small-diameter flex cables using SS085 coax for situations where HSD and high-density RF applications require high-performance flex cables with excellent insertion loss and phase stability. P1dB’s HSD and RF cable assemblies feature flexible, high performance .085 diameter coax that is stable over flexure. That is why the SS085 coax is especially suited for measuring parallel signals that can be adversely affected by unstable cable delays.

Matched cable pairs are matched to 5ps (measured @ 10GHz) and are available with the following connector options: SMA, SMP (GPO™) or SMPM (GPPO™). SS085 Coax Specifications
SS085 is a high-performance coax, which is a flexible version of RG405, .085 semi-rigid coax. SS085 is designed to operate to 40 GHz, but most of its uses are for 18 GHz and below applications. Its double-shielded outer conductor provides a level of RF stability and isolation that is similar to RG405 coax.
Although SS085 coax is a general purpose high-performance design, it is a good solution for short jumpers that are phase matched. That is because the coax can be terminated to hold a tight phase tolerance to 18 GHz. SS085 coax can also be phase matched to higher frequencies at an increased phase-match fee and longer delivery.
